Forced swimming test, forced swimming experiment cage.
Using two forced swimming cages allows for efficient experimentation! It is suitable for antidepressant screening.
Forced Swimming is known as a despair model for depression and is used for screening antidepressants because the administration of antidepressants reduces the duration of immobility. Mice are placed in a cylindrical container filled with water to a depth where their tails do not reach the bottom, and the time (distance) spent swimming and the time spent immobile are measured. Mice with a high tendency for depression show longer immobility times and shorter distances moved, and when administered antidepressants, the immobility time decreases. **Equipment needed for the Forced Swimming Test:** - Behavioral analysis device SCANET MV-40 - Software SCL-40 (using the basic AQ mode) - Cage for forced swimming experiments (for mice only) - AQ kit (including a dedicated tray and height adjustment blocks) *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.*
